Panos Caribbean\'s Regional Director shares lens time with Amerindians from Lima,Peru. Panos is one of the civil society organisations attending the United Nations Climate talks in Peru. The talks end on December 12.

PhotoVoice Journalism Training in Haiti – 2010

In July 2010, Panos Caribbean carried out a series of PhotoVoice training in Jacmel, Haiti as part of a global project of the Panos Global AIDS Programme, GAP which was carried out simultaneously by three other Panos Institutes. The project, dubbed: “Reaching the Unreached” targeted out of school young people.

The training had two components; young people from Jacmel, Haiti were trained in Photovoice techniques and practising journalists from Port au Prince were also trained in the same discipline.

In 2010, Panos Caribbean carried out Youth Journalism training The Jacmel, Haiti. The project, dubbed Reaching the Unreached, focused on sexual and reproductive health issues with specific aims to addressing this gap in current programming on sexual and reproductive health for young people by aiming to improve sexual and reproductive health of those most at risk. The project, which specifically targeted “out of school children” in Jacmel (South-East of Haiti), focused on those particularly vulnerable and marginalised, including girls and illiterate youth.

St. Lucia Youth Journalism Group

Panos Caribbean launched a Youth Journalism training programme in St. Lucia in 2011. The training aims to empower youth to advocate effectively on issues that affect them by utilising the media. The programme; “Our Own Voices — Youth Communicating Through the Media” targeted 20 youth aged 12 to 16 in St. Lucia who are marginalised or vulnerable but possess strong leadership and communication skills and trained them to become effective communicators and youth advocates utilizing five interlinked approaches.
